During another voyage, my ship was attacked by pirates.
別の航海中に、私の船は海賊に襲われました。
They didn’t kill me, but they took everything and left me alone on a small boat near India.
彼らは私を殺しませんでしたが、彼らはすべてを奪い、私を小さな舟に乗せてインドの近くに置き去りにしました。
Luckily, I managed to reach a small island.
幸運にも、私は小さな島になんとかたどり着けました。
第５段落｜【ELEMENT１ Lesson９の和訳：Part ２】
I wanted to ask for help, but there was no one on the island.
私は助けを求めたかったのですが、その島には誰もいませんでした。
Suddenly it became darker around me.
突然、私の周りが暗くなりました。
When I looked up, I saw a large island up in the sky, between the sun and me!
見上げた時、私は、太陽と自分の間に、大きな島が空に浮かんでいるのを見つけました！
A flying island!
空飛ぶ島だ！
I was very surprised and very afraid.
私はひどく驚き、とても怖くなりました。
To my great surprise, however, I noticed a number of people moving around and looking down at me from up there.
とても驚きましたが、たくさんの人々が動き回り、私を見下ろしていることに気がつきました。
I wanted to live, so I shouted, “Help! Help!”
私は生きたかったので叫びました、「助けて！助けて！」
They lowered a chain down and pulled me up.
彼らは鎖を下ろして、私を引き上げてくれました。
This was how I was saved by this strange flying island called Laputa.
このようにして私は、ラピュタと呼ばれる、この奇妙な空飛ぶ島によって救われたのです。
第６段落｜【ELEMENT１ Lesson９の和訳：Part ２】
The people in Laputa spoke a different language, so I started to take notes of what they said.
ラピュタの人々は違う言語を話していたので、私は彼らが言っていることを書き出すことにしました。
Strangely, they always tried to explain things with words from mathematics.
奇妙にも、彼らはいつも数学用語で物事を説明しようとしていました。
Also, they believed they had a special ability for music and played music for hours and hours without rest.
また、彼らは自分には特別な音楽の才能があると信じていて、何時間も休みなしに音楽を演奏しました。
Soon I was so bored that I decided to leave.
次第に私は飽きてしまい、立ち去ると決めました。
