My name is Lemuel\Lemuel Gulliver.
私の名前は、レミュエル、レミュエルガリバーです。
I once was a doctor.
かつては医者でした。
I had always wanted to travel, so I made several voyages from my country, England, to faraway nations of the world.
私はいつも旅をしたいと思っていたので、母国のイングランドから何度か、世界の遠く離れた国々へ船で渡りました。
第２段落｜【ELEMENT１ Lesson９の和訳：Part １】
I began my first voyage with some sailors on May 4, 1699.
私の最初の航海は、何人かの船員たちと1699年5月4日に始まりました。
On our way to the East Indies, a big storm hit us.
東インド諸島に向かう途中、大きな嵐が私たちを襲いました。
The wind shook our ship as if the ship were a leaf in the wind.
風が私達の船を、風に舞う木の葉のように揺らしました。
It drove our ship on to a rock, which broke the ship in half.
風は私達の船を岩の上に乗り上がらせ、船を半分に壊してしまいました。
I fell into the water.
私は海に落ちてしまいました。
When I woke up and tried to get up, I couldn’t move.
目が覚めて起き上がろうとすると、動くことができませんでした。
My arms, legs, and even my long hair were fastened to the ground.
私の手、足、長い髪までもが地面に縛りつけられていました。
Suddenly, I heard noises around me, and I couldn’t believe my eyes!
突然、私の周りで音が聞こえて、そして私は目を疑いました！
There were very, very small human beings, only fifteen centimeters tall!
そこにはとてもとても小さな、背丈が15センチしかない人間がいたのです！
第３段落｜【ELEMENT１ Lesson９の和訳：Part １】
This was a country called Lilliput.
ここはリリパットと呼ばれる国でした。
After I promised to behave well, people began to like me and called me “Man-Mountain.”
私が行儀よくすると約束すると、人々は私を好きになり私を「人間山」と呼びました。
One day the King requested that I join a war against an enemy country.
ある日、王様が私に、敵国との戦争に参加するように要求しました。
I helped them by stealing many enemy ships.
私は、敵の船を多く盗むことで彼らを手助けしました。
The King then ordered me to help make the enemy country part of Lilliput.
そして王様は私に、敵国をリリパットの一部にすることを手伝うように命令しました。
I thought that was going too far and said no.
私はそれはやりすぎだと思ったので、いやだと断りました。
The King got angry and tried to blind me.
王様は腹を立てて、私を盲目にしようとしました。
I was very surprised, and I decided to leave the country secretly on a boat.
私はとても驚いて、ボートでわからないようにこの国を去ると決めました。
