国境なき作家団
We are born into a specific language and culture.
私たちは特定の言語・文化圏に生まれる。
But if we wish, we can change our lives.
しかし私たちが望めば、自分の人生を変えることができる。
These three writers tell us that it is possible to move across borders of language and culture.
次の3人の作家は言語と文化の国境を越えることは可能であることを伝えている。
第１段落｜【CROWN１ Lesson３の和訳：Part１】
Chinese writer Yang Yi is the first non-native Japanese speaker to receive the Akutagawa Prize.
中国人作家のヤン・イーは、芥川賞を受賞した初めての外国人だ。
Her novel, Toki ga Nijimu Asa, is about a Chinese student who moves to Japan in search of a new life.
彼女の小説、「時が滲(にじ)む朝」は新しい生活を求めて日本にやって来た中国人学生の話である。
第２段落｜【CROWN１ Lesson３の和訳：Part１】
When Yang moved to Japan at the age of 22, she did not speak a word of Japanese.
ヤンさんが22歳で日本に来た時、日本語は一言も話せなかった。
Learning Japanese was a lot of fun for her.
彼女にとって日本語を学ぶことは大変楽しいことだった。
She took lessons and, after class, practiced by talking to as many Japanese people as possible.
日本語の授業の後はできる限り多くの日本人に話しかけて練習した。
“I talked to anyone who looked friendly,” she explains.
「親切そうな人にはだれにでも話しかけました」と彼女は当時のことを話す。
“I talked to ojisan working at bicycle-parking places, even when I had nothing important to say. “
「大した話がない時でさえも、駐輪場で働くおじいさんに話しかけました」
She also listened to other people’s conversations.
彼女はまた他の人の会話にも耳を傾けた。
“When I understood even a few words, I was happy,” she says.
「2、3の言葉が分かっただけでもとてもうれしかったです」と彼女は言う。
“It made me excited all day!”
「そんな時は一日中ウキウキしました」
