One winter morning, Grandpa awoke and found that the sea had risen even higher.
ある冬の朝、おじいさんが目を覚ますと、海面がさらに上がっていました。
The floor of his house was now a big puddle.
家の床は、今では大きな水たまりです。
He gazed at a picture of his wife and sighed, “Well, I guess it’s time to build another new house.”
彼は、奥さんの写真を見つめてため息をつきました。「やれやれ、また新しい家を作る時期が来たようだな。」

First, he did some stretching exercises, so as not to strain his back.

The next morning, when Grandpa was getting ready to go work on the roof, he stumbled and dropped his tools.

The hatch in the floor was open, and his hammers and saw and trowel all fell into the water and sank to the floor below.
床のハッチが空いていて、彼の金づちと、のこぎりと、こてが、全部海に落ちて下の階まで沈んでしまいました。
“I’ll have to go get them,” he said to himself, as he put on his diving suit.
「取りに行かないと」と、彼は潜水服を着ながら独り言を言いました。
