He dove through the hatch and swam down.
彼はハッチから飛び込み、下へ泳いでいきました。
His tools lay there on the floor, but when he reached for them, he realized this was the last house that he’d lived in together with his wife.
彼の道具は、床の上にありましたが、手を伸ばしたとき、この家は奥さんと一緒に暮らした最後の家だと気がつきました。

Suddenly he could see all the children and grandchildren gathered around his wife’s sickbed.

In his memory, Grandpa watched himself still holding his wife’s hand long after she’d stopped breathing.

Each family cooked something delicious to exchange with the neighbors, and the grandchildren stayed up past their bedtime.
それぞれの家族は近所の人と交換するためにおいしい料理を作り、孫たちは寝る時間を過ぎてもまだ起きていました。
